First Nations Challenge Cup
tournament Rules
• It will be mandatory for the rest of the remaining competing teams to play in the Consolation category. If there is a tie(s) at this point, each team will pick one player from their respective team to play in a sudden victory playoff against the other tied teams(s) to determine who moves onto the Championship round.
• Points accumulated by all four teams from the previous two days will be wiped to zero (0). Teams who qualify for the Championship category will no longer carry over into the final days points accumulated from the first two days. Essentially, the new system will now see all four teams go into the final championship round on an even score basis (no team points are carried into 3rd day).
• All four similar ranked players (ranked 1 thru 8) from the four Match Play Championship teams will play each other in a modified match play format. E.g. All number “1” ranked players will play together, all 2’s, all 3’s etc. A total of 10 points (4, 3, 2, & 1 pt) will be allocated as follows. The winner of the hole will receive 4 pts, second will receive 3 pts, third will receive 2pts & fourth best will receive 1 pts.
Example 1: If one player birdied and
three players pared a hole; the player who made birdie will receive
4 pts, and the three players who pared (tied) will receive 2 pts each
(3+2+1/3=2 pts).
Example 2: If two players made birdie
and two players boogied; the players who made birdie will receive
3.5 pts (4+3/2=3.5pts), and the players who made bogie will receive
1.5 pts (2+1/2=1.5pts).
Example 3: If all four players pared
the hole; each player would receive 2.5 pts (4+3+2+1/4=2.5pts)
All eight player’s points on each team are then combined to give each
team’s total combined score. The team with the most points will be
declared Champion. If there is a tie(s) at this point, each team captain
will pick one player from their respective team to play in a sudden
victory playoff amongst tied team(s).
