BUSINESS FOCUS

The Social Development Team will focus on eight key objectives in 2010-2011. The effect of these objectives will be to direct people and resources on improved Member services. Action items include the enhancement of client communications, a proactive approach to self sufficiency processes, and the delivery of client and staff learning forums. Social development will examine and improve its supplier development process, review its special needs policy and current program mandate. The social development team views its community engagement objective as a critical element in ensuring program integrity and transparency.

 

 

 

 

 

Objectives

Support and enable income assistant clients towards self-sufficiency. Social development will implement this process by undertaking    detailed intake assessments complemented by the fostering of and preparation for opportunities in the labour market.

Social Development Human Resource Excellence - facilitate and develop employee learning opportunities, client management    protocols and facility security by reviewing and implementing Occupational Health and Safety continuous improvement efforts. Provide    an improved secure, safe facility and respectful workplace. Promote HR excellence by encouraging innovation, learning and enabling    the social development team.

HR Excellence Daycare and Member Services Business Unit - provide learning opportunities and formal training for day care providers    to ensure standards and procedures are met and exceeded. Organizational development will see a transition to provide a broader    spectrum of day care programming and early learning programs. Facilitate people transition issues within potential mandate re-   organization in member and daycare services.

Deliver learning forums for clientele on budget management and trusteeship.

Social Development will implement business process improvement by analyzing furniture, appliance and other supplier costs and    product quality. Subject to this analysis Social development will negotiate new agreements for the provision of quality goods and    services at competitive market values.

Social Development will conduct a joint annual review of the Special Needs Policy and criteria with other program heads.

Community Engagement - Develop a communications strategy for Social Development that will inform clients on current eligibility and    program requirements and enhance and complement the broader Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation communications strategy. The team will    develop a specific strategy regarding membership registry and the timely provision of information.
