Holistic Wellness Worker

The Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is currently seeking a FULL TIME position for HOLISTIC WELLNESS WORKER - Full time - 6 month probation period

Works under the Supervision of the Holistic Health Manager 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     coordinating and providing counselling, consultation, clinical assessments, therapy and follow-up for all clients in accordance with the agency’s mandate, policies and procedures in an holistic approach;

2.     coordinating, providing counselling/case management to clients that are experiencing mental health issues; coordinating care with consulting psychiatry and local general practitioners;

3.      administering required mental health and addiction assessments, providing pre-treatment services to clients requiring residential treatment providing counselling and healing to clients;

4.     Completing certification in standardized assessment tools;

5.     providing written reports, assessments and appropriate documentation in client files in keeping with the standards and procedures of Ahtahkakoop Health;

6.     to coordinate and facilitate access to traditional healing and other cultural programming

7.     attending and actively participating in team meetings and treatment conferences in order to facilitate integrated service delivery through consistently sharing information with the team regarding care management;.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • For purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the proposed Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as Level 2.0 must possess a diploma from an accredited post secondary institution specialized in Addictions Counselling.

  • Alternatively, the individual designated as Level 1.0 should possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent with a willingness to pursue full accreditation in Addictions Counselling. He/She should also have acquired at least one (1) year experience in human services at the First Nations level.

  • Valid CLASS 5 driver’s license and approval for Ahtahkakoop Band Vehicles

Holistic Wellness Manager

The Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is currently seeking a FULL TIME position for a Holistic Wellness Manager.

Full time 6 month probation period.

Works under the Supervision of the Manager of Health Services

PURPOSE OF POSITION:   

Under the direction of the Health Manager, the Holistic Wellness Manager is responsible for the management of mental health and addictions services within Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation to ensure the current developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, adults and families are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. monitoring and evaluating Mental Health and Addictions Program objectives and activities and ensuring that services provided incorporate a culturally based focus; maintaining the consistency of standards to ensure services and related programs express the policies and procedures of Ahtahkakoop Health and are within the legal framework of the Mental Health Act

  2. consulting with Leadership, community members and staff to develop and recommend Mental Health and Addictions strategies and course of action; advising management on the resolution of Mental Health and Addictions issues and leading the development, selection, implementation and management of strategies

  3. Provide counselling, support/guidance, intervention, crisis management, family counselling as required, group work and case management. Conducts mental health assessments, help clients define goals and develop treatment plans.  Assessment of risk factors, clinical management of risk, stabilization, development of safety plans. Develop therapeutic processes to guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems. Focus sessions on recovery, modification of behaviours or better management of conditions. Evaluate client progress on a regular basis and adjust interventions as necessary.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • For purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the proposed Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as MH-3 must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in Social Work or Psychology complimented by at least four (4) years experience in Health Care at the First Nations level.

  • Valid CLASS 5 driver’s license and approval for Ahtahkakoop Band Vehicles

  • Excellent computer skills including ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet.

Community Restorative Justice Worker

The Ahtahkakoop Justice Department is now accepting applications for a full time, Community Restorative Justice Worker Term Position to April 30, 2020

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Ahtahkakoop Justice Coordinator, the successful applicant’s responsibilities will be to:

·       Assist Ahtahkakoop Band youth/adult members in Family/Criminal court and develop a case plan for each individual in court and have the ability to conduct personal counselling and make appropriate referrals for each individual/family.

·       Plan, coordinate and conduct community information sessions related to healing initiatives; and able to develop programs related to Domestic Violence and Drug addictions.

·       Work alongside the Holistic worker and addiction workers at the Ahtahkakoop Clinic and staff of the Ahtahkakoop Child and Family Services (ACFS).

·       Assist with the Ahtahkakoop Alternative Measures Program – i.e.: referrals from the RCMP, Judge or Prosecutor.

·       Organizes & provides or facilitates mediation meetings; healing circles, sentencing circles, family and community conferences, community services work, etc.

·       Develops & maintains a positive working relationship with the justice system and with various community-based service providers.

·       Meet with local religious and spiritual leaders to make referrals for healing purposes for individual or family setting;

·       As a Ahtahkakoop Justice employee, you may be required to work non-traditional hours to provide clientele service in the office and in community settings (i.e. court, home visits, conduct healing circle, traditional sweats,etc). This position involves travel and a valid driver’s license is required.

·       Act as a Justice worker in the Ahtahkakoop school setting and to assist with conflict of (i.e bullying, assaults) in the school and to assist the families in Family Group Conferencing or Healing Circles.

·       Assist with the Ahtahkakoop Community-School Liaison worker when needing your assists.

·       Involvement in Restorative Justice Activities and the promotion of restorative justice principles and practices in the Ahtahkakoop community and its members.

·       Also develop documents & records all work activities and submit reports as required.

Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess a Diploma or Degree from an accredited justice-related program or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Counselling certificate; must possess a Sask. Driver’s license, transportation and willingness to travel. Knowledge of; and sensitivity towards Aboriginal cultures and traditions. You will be required to provide verification of your degree. Must complete a criminal record check and complete vulnerable sector check with the RCMP before being interviewed.

Ability to speak Cree would be an asset.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

·        To learn about community planning and the specific tasks associated with the Community Development Pilot Project.

·        Investigate and research relevant background information.

·        Work alongside partners as well as other Community Navigators throughout the duration of the project.

·        Lead various meetings within the community to introduce the Community Development Pilot Project.

·        Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external personnel and/or organizations/agencies.

·        Work with other departments to address the priorities that are identified in the community plan.

·        Prepare basic information concerning the community plan process and act as a resource person for departments, members and council on the community plan process, procedures and protocols.

Works under the Supervision of the Medical Transportation Coordinator

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Assist the Medical Transportation Coordinator to direct and coordinate medical transportation services for clients and patients that require transport to a medical facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

2.     To provide required taxi and medical transportation services to the nearest destination for medical appointments (i.e. dental, optometry, GP, ultrasound, etc) for on reserve First Nation residents, regardless of their Band affiliation.

4.     When requested provide transportation and/or meals and accommodations when requested and approved by NIHB

5.     To screen private mileage requests and to ensure each are in compliance to current MSB policy and rates.

6.     To ensure that taxis (three) have their trips arranged and confirmed daily

7.     Deal with the membership and staff in a cordial manner and respect the confidentiality of information and records in the office.

Purpose of Position

To ensure the safe transportation of clients to various medical facilities, Doctor and Specialists for appointments/treatment or other reasons relating to the personal health and well being of the client.

 Qualifications

·       valid Class 5 Driver license

·       clean Drivers abstract with no pending or current insurance restrictions

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Able to work long and often irregular hours.

  2. Arrange regular repairs, general maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles.

  3. Conduct a daily vehicle inspection and complete the daily inspection log.

  4. Maintain and submit weekly accurate, up to date records detailing fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that may be requested by the Medical Transportation Coordinator.

  5. Pick up clients at designated locations and transport them to their desired medical facility for appointment/treatment/follow-up.

  6. Maintain secure handling of all documents and records.

  7. Complete trip records.

  8. To demonstrate punctuality, and display a manner that is courteous, friendly and helpful at all times.

  9. To conduct his/herself in a manner that displays respect, responsibility and alertness at all times.

  10. To ensure they do not consume alcohol or drugs(prescription or illegal), during a twenty-four hour period before operating a Taxi. The abilities and good judgment of the Driver must never be impaired or compromised by any consumption.

 The ability to speak the Cree language is an asset.

Construction & Renovation Inventory Clerk Intern - Housing

Type:               Temporary full-time for duration of 19 weeks.

Salary:             $13.00/Hour 35 Hour/Week

Purpose of position

As a successful applicant, under the Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit Youth, the youth chosen for this position will be required to have good organizational skills and able to accurately count, transfer and monitor inventory of materials and equipment within the warehouse compound.  The individual will be required to have some maintenance and construction skills.  This position will require heavy lifting and a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle as the individual will be required to travel on-reserve.

BATC Shuttle Driver - 1 Full Time (term)/3 Casual for Ahtahkakoop

The Employment & Training Shuttle Driver will be responsible for the coordinating and implementation of the Shuttle Program. This position will be delivered locally at the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and clients transported to nearby employment or training facilities. The Full Time position will be a term position to March 31, 2020.

Job Duties:

• The Shuttle Driver shall maintain communication with BATC designate, BATC Personal Development Coach and/or Placement Liaison, to ensure assessed clients are being transported to and from employment or training locations (as per scheduled list)

• Assist with coordinating a schedule for pickup of clients. Use appropriate Attendance Form to track clients utilizing service.

• Ensure Employment & Training Shuttle rules are clearly visible and a copy is distributed to new clients. Provide followup with rules to Band designate.

• Schedule regular maintenance of van, as per maintenance log. Must follow all procedures for Shuttle Program ie. Daily vehicle checks and keeping of records

• Provide time sheets, incident reports, and other information to the continual improvement delivery of the program

Teacher Assistant - 3 Temporary Full-Time

THE POSITION
Reporting to designated staff, the Teacher Assistant (s) is responsible for specific functions and tasks designed to provide, enhance programs and service delivery to the Tribal Council and the member bands. The Teacher Assistant will help and support assigned Teacher in the Classroom. This position will be based out of Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist students with lessons under direct supervision of a classroom Teacher;
• Monitor and report to classroom Teacher on student progress;
• Assist in preparation of learning materials and environment;
• Accompany and supervise students during activities in school gymnasiums, laboratories, libraries, resource Centre’s and on field trips;
• Prepare classroom displays and bulletin boards;
• Assist Teachers in setting up projectors, audio-visual equipment, etc.;
• Carry out behavior modification, personal development and other therapeutic programs under supervision of professionals such as special education instructors, psychologists or speech language pathologists;
• Monitor students during recess, at noon hour or during the day;
• Assist in classroom inventory;
• Assist in school library or office and perform other duties assign by school principals;
• Notify the school principal before 8:00 a.m. when unable to report for duty due to illness;
• Arrive at the school at least 30 minutes prior to the time of school beginning and remain at the school until at least 30 minutes after scheduled school hours unless permission to leave is granted by the Principal;
• Work with students on Guided Reading activities;
• Work with students on Levelled Literacy Intervention;
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Teacher Assistant must be between the ages of 18-64 and is an Income Assistant Client.

First Responder Training

A Community First Responder is a volunteer who, within the community in which they live or work, have been trained to attend emergency calls received by the ambulance services, and provide potentially life-saving treatment and first aid until an ambulance arrives.

Responders are trained to use Automated External Defibrillator, Oxygen, and other lifesaving equipment, maintain patient stability and to assist ambulance crews.

Individuals must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid CPR Level C.

Child Care Worker

Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist the Daycare Coordinator in providing a safe, stimulating environment for young children at the Ahtahkakoop Daycare Centre.  The Childcare worker will function under the supervision of the Daycare Coordinator.

Qualifications Required:

-level 2 must possess a grade 12 standing or equivalent complimented by valid certification in Early Childhood Intervention Programs (ECIP).  He/she should also have at least three (3) years’ experience in childcare.  Alternately the individual designated as level one (1) should possess a grade 10 education complimented by at least three (3) years’ experience in childcare.

He/she should also be working towards valid certification in (ECIP).

The Childcare Worker will also be required to pass a police security check and Child abuse record check. 

The ability to speak/understand Cree is an asset.

BATC - Support Services Coordinator

(1) Full Time Term position

BATC is seeking a Support Services Coordinator who will be responsible for assisting clients or First Nations with wellness support and delivery. The position will be based at the Atoskewin Success Centre in North Battleford and report to Director of BATC Employment & Training. This program is a term salary position and will end March 31, 2019.

THE POSITION
The Support Services Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Wellness Programming curriculum to clients and 13 First Nations (as per Family Violence Prevention Project 18/19).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Partners to integrate curriculum into Case Management, Community Programming and workshops.
• Provide counselling services or referrals to communities and partners
• Assist with training initiatives
• Update and maintain client files and database and produce reports as needed.
• Assist with strategic goals to serve the respected community.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum Diploma Life Skills/Addictions Counselling/Wellness or Bachelors of Social Work
• Must have a combination of minimal of (5) years work related experience in client or group service delivery
• Excellent interpersonal skills & computer skills including spreadsheets
• Decision making skills
• Valid Drivers License
• Understanding and Speaking Cree Language and Culture an asset

Position:        HOUSING AND O & M CLERK
Type:             FULL TIME POSITION 6-month probationary period

SUMMARY: The Housing and O & M Clerk is responsible for coordinating the operational, clerical and secretarial functions required in the day-to-day operations of Ahtahkakoop’s Housing and CMHC’s programs and Public Works Department.

The Housing and O & M Clerk is also responsible for various administrative duties or functions relating to; accounts payable, acting as liaison with suppliers, preparing correspondence, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: 

For the purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as Level 2.0 must possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent complemented by a Business Certificate specializing in either one of: Accountancy, Administration, Computer Information Systems, Financial Services or Human Resource Management.

Alternatively, the individual designated as Level 1.0 should possess a Grade 12 education or equivalent complemented by a combination of; training and/or experience in the provision of management support services at the First Nations level.

SUMMARIZED DUTIES & RESPONSIBLIITIES:       

  1. Knowledge of phone/computer system.
  2. Answers all incoming calls in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
  3. Take telephone messages and direct inquiries for those staff that are unavailable.
  4. Responding to general inquires of membership within capability and directing those that require further clarification or which are program specific.
  5. Personnel File Management – time recording of staff, Annual Leave days, sick days etc.
  6. Receives, records and distributes all incoming mail, facsimiles and packages.
  7. Deal with the membership and staff in a cordial manner and respect the confidentiality of certain information and records in the office.
  8. From time to time, Overtime hours may be required to work ex. Fall Fest, Treaty days, evening meetings, dances etc.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Youth Worker (2) - 1 Male, 1 Female

The Ahtahkakoop Child & Family Services in partnership with the Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is seeking 2 Youth Workers, under the supervision of the ACFS Prevention Worker. The Youth Workers will provide a holisitic approach to the wellness of the youth of the community based on culture and tradition, with the guidance and involvement of Elders. Must be willing to work after hours and weekends. The successful candidates will be required to work as team members of a multidisciplinary team assigned to the implementation of an integrated approach in supporting youth with community based programs.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Will be required to provide a criminal record check and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Must submit to a Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must provide a valid driver's license and acceptable Driver's Abstract.
  • Knowledge of the Cree culture and language would be an asset.
  • Be excellent role-model that lives a health lifestyle (drug and alcohol free).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to supervise and work with youth in the community.
  • Must have ability to work in conjunction with the community programs and services.

The Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is currently seeking a Full-Time position for Nursing Clerk. Full-time based on funding - 3 month probation period.

Works under the Supervision of the Nurse Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Information and File Management through maintaining proper alphabetical/numerical system for all correspondence/files received.
  • Data Entry/incoming-outgoing mail/faxes, ect.
  • Office Equipment/Supplies ordering, purchasing and monitoring.
  • Assisting with the preparation of meetings, workshops, seminars, and employee in-services: minute taking for meetings, etc.
  • Doctor days- assisting the Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid CLASS 5 driver’s license and approval for Ahtahkakoop Band Vehicles
  • Minimum of two (2) years current experience required in administration/secretarial duties.
  • Appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Excellent computer skills including ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate documentation and records: ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines:

BATC - 2 Shuttle Drivers (Casual) - Ahtahkakoop

The Employment & Training Shuttle Driver will be responsible for the coordinating and implementation of the Shuttle Program. This position will be delivered locally at the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and clients transported to nearby employment or training facilities. This will be a casual position to June 30, 2018.

Job Duties:
• The Shuttle Driver shall maintain communication with BATC designate: Client Support Coordinator, Personal Development Coach or Placement, to ensure assessed clients are being transported to and from employment or training locations (as per scheduled list)
• Assist with coordinating a schedule for pickup of clients. Use appropriate Attendance Form to track clients utilizing service.
• Ensure Employment & Training Shuttle rules are clearly visible and a copy is distributed to new clients. Provide followup with rules to Band designate.
• Schedule regular maintenance of van, as per maintenance log.
• Provide time sheets, incident reports, and other information to the continual and improvement delivery of the program to BATC designate.
• Must maintain good business communication with clients, employers, and staff.

Qualifications:
• Must have a combination of minimal of (2) years work related experience.
• Must have a valid drivers license, drivers abstract
• First Aid/CPR
• CPIC
• Grade 10 or equivalent
• Speak Cree would be an asset
• Must have good communication skills and patience
