Youth Worker (2) - 1 Male, 1 Female

The Ahtahkakoop Child & Family Services in partnership with the Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is seeking 2 Youth Workers, under the supervision of the ACFS Prevention Worker. The Youth Workers will provide a holisitic approach to the wellness of the youth of the community based on culture and tradition, with the guidance and involvement of Elders. Must be willing to work after hours and weekends. The successful candidates will be required to work as team members of a multidisciplinary team assigned to the implementation of an integrated approach in supporting youth with community based programs.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Will be required to provide a criminal record check and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Must submit to a Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • Must provide a valid driver's license and acceptable Driver's Abstract.
  • Knowledge of the Cree culture and language would be an asset.
  • Be excellent role-model that lives a health lifestyle (drug and alcohol free).

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Able to supervise and work with youth in the community.
  • Must have ability to work in conjunction with the community programs and services.
  • Will be required to make referrals.
  • Ability to develop activities and programs for the youth.
  • Will be required to develop and implement a program based on youth needs.
  • Must possess the ability to take direction and work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop age appropriate activities for Youth in the community that will promote health and wellness.
  • Willing to work flexible hours.
  • Various other duties as assigned.

Starting wage: $15.00 per hour plus benefits

Receptionist (Health Centre)

Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team.

Position:         RECEPTIONIST
Type: 
            FULL TIME - 6 month probationary period.
Salary:           Depending on qualifications and experience.

SUMMARIZED DUTIES & RESPONSIBLIITIES:       

  1. Knowledge of phone/computer system.
  2. Answers all incoming calls in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.
  3. Take telephone messages and direct inquiries for those staff that are unavailable.
  4. Responding to general inquires of membership within capability and directing those that require further clarification or which are program specific.
  5. Personnel File Management – time recording of staff, Annual Leave days, sick days etc.
  6. Receives, records and distributes all incoming mail, facsimiles and packages.
  7. Deal with the membership and staff in a cordial manner and respect the confidentiality of certain information and records in the office.
  8. From time to time, Overtime hours may be required to work ex. Fall Fest, Treaty days, evening meetings, dances etc.
  9. Others duties that may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Secretarial diploma or certificate complimented by a minimum of two (2) years related work experience.
  • Strong professional development skills to promote teamwork, unity and harmony with staff and membership.
  • Above average computer skills and be experienced in maintaining office records
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Driver License and a reliable vehicle
  • Information on programs and services offered by the Ahtahkakoop Health Centre
  • Understanding of the Oath of Confidentiality
  • The ability to speak/understand the Cree language is an asset.

Nursing Clerk

The Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is currently seeking a Full-Time position for Nursing Clerk. Full-time based on funding - 3 month probation period.

Works under the Supervision of the Nurse Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Information and File Management through maintaining proper alphabetical/numerical system for all correspondence/files received.
  • Data Entry/incoming-outgoing mail/faxes, ect.
  • Office Equipment/Supplies ordering, purchasing and monitoring.
  • Assisting with the preparation of meetings, workshops, seminars, and employee in-services: minute taking for meetings, etc.
  • Doctor days- assisting the Nurse

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid CLASS 5 driver’s license and approval for Ahtahkakoop Band Vehicles
  • Minimum of two (2) years current experience required in administration/secretarial duties.
  • Appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Excellent computer skills including ability to utilize Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint), Email, and Internet.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate documentation and records: ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines:
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with situations with discretion and confidentiality.
  • An understanding and knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and history and the ability to speak Cree is considered a valuable asset.

BATC - 2 Shuttle Drivers (Casual) - Ahtahkakoop

The Employment & Training Shuttle Driver will be responsible for the coordinating and implementation of the Shuttle Program. This position will be delivered locally at the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation and clients transported to nearby employment or training facilities. This will be a casual position to June 30, 2018.

Job Duties:
• The Shuttle Driver shall maintain communication with BATC designate: Client Support Coordinator, Personal Development Coach or Placement, to ensure assessed clients are being transported to and from employment or training locations (as per scheduled list)
• Assist with coordinating a schedule for pickup of clients. Use appropriate Attendance Form to track clients utilizing service.
• Ensure Employment & Training Shuttle rules are clearly visible and a copy is distributed to new clients. Provide followup with rules to Band designate.
• Schedule regular maintenance of van, as per maintenance log.
• Provide time sheets, incident reports, and other information to the continual and improvement delivery of the program to BATC designate.
• Must maintain good business communication with clients, employers, and staff.

Qualifications:
• Must have a combination of minimal of (2) years work related experience.
• Must have a valid drivers license, drivers abstract
• First Aid/CPR
• CPIC
• Grade 10 or equivalent
• Speak Cree would be an asset
• Must have good communication skills and patience

Aboriginal Pre-Cadet Training Program

The Aboriginal Pre-Cadet Training Program (APTP) offers Canadian Aboriginal people from the ages of 19-29, the opportunity to get an inside look at the life of a police officer. This summer program provides the selected candidates with hands-on experience in the RCMP’s training program.

Those accepted into the program attend a three-week training program at the RCMP Training Academy (Depot) in Regina, from May 13 to June 2, 2018. The training focuses on teaching collaborative problem-solving skills, law enforcement, public speaking, cultural diversity and facilitating Safe Community Workshops in communities. There are also elements of physical fitness and drill which promote team work and provide students with long-term strategies to meet personal fitness goals.

The RCMP will provide transportation, meals, accommodation, uniform, and 3 weeks of training wages.

Basic requirements to apply:

•  Be between 19-29 years of age
•  Be of First Nation, Métis or Inuit descent
•  Be a Canadian citizen
•  Be of good character
•  Be able to pass an enhanced reliability security check
•  Be in good physical condition
•  Possess a Canadian high school diploma or equivalent
•  Possess valid Canadian driver’s license

6 Guards/Matrons (RCMP/Commissionaires)

The Ahtahkakoop RCMP are looking to hire 6 qualified Guards/Matrons through the Core Commissionaires. The RCMP conducts the employment hiring and security screening in this process.

Job Profile

Monitor all prisoners to ensure their security and well-being. Observe and physically check prisoners frequently. Organize meals, record activity and maintain a prisoner activity logbook. Ensure all personal effects that are removed from prisoners are properly secured. Perform other duties particular to that detachment as outlined by the Detachment Commander.

Required Qualifications

Demonstrate ability to read and write in English. Meet visual standards for the RCMP. Meet auditory standards of the RCMP (hearing aids are not permitted). Able to use both hands. Occasionally required to manipulate/lift 20 kg. Be able to bend at the waist and possess a valid first aid and CPR certificate.

Qualified Applicants Must:

  • Be reliable, mature, professional, and flexible.
  • Adhere to all RCMP cellblock policy, procedures, and direction.
  • Complete and pass the RCMP security clearance process.
  • Acquire First Aid/CPR training prior to hiring.
  • Willing and able to be called out to work at any time and to work day and night shifts as required.
  • Job pays $18.00 per hour through the Core Commissionaire's.

1 Full-Time Associate Teacher

Term Position: Ends June 30, 2018

Purpose: The Associate Teacher will provide assistance to Teachers in the regular day-to-day classroom instruction.

Qualification: For the purposes of determining an employee's salary classification to the Ahtahkakoop salary grid in place, the individual designated as Level 1 must possess a Grade 12 or equivalent. Level 2 must possess a certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in Early Childhood Education or Educational Assistant. Level 3 must possess a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in Early Childhood Education or Educational Assistant. The ability to speak/understand the Cree language is an asset.
