Holistic Wellness Worker - Youth Addiction Worker

Holistic Wellness Worker – Youth Addiction Worker.  

Full Time Position - 6 month probation period

Purpose of Position: Under the direction of the Holistic Wellness Manager, the Youth Addiction Worker will provide clinical assessments, planning, treatment and counselling to youth.

QUALIFICATIONS:                  

For purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the proposed Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as Level 2.0 must possess a bachelor's degree in Addictions, Social work or Psychology or a combination of Education and training deemed applicable to the role such as diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent  combination of education and experience, may be considered.

Individuals may require authorization under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions For purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the proposed Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as Level 1.0 must possess a diploma or degree from an accredited post-secondary institution specialized in Addictions Counselling.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1)     Coordinating and providing counselling, consultation, clinical assessments, therapy and follow-up for all clients in accordance with the agency’s mandate, policies and procedures in an holistic approach;

2)     Coordinating, providing counselling/case management to clients that are experiencing mental health issues; coordinating care with consulting psychiatry and local general practitioners;

3)     Administering required mental health and addiction assessments, providing pre-treatment services to clients requiring residential treatment providing counselling and healing to clients;

4)     Completing certification in standardized assessment tools;

5)     Providing written reports, assessments and appropriate documentation in client files in keeping with the standards and procedures of Ahtahkakoop Health;

6)     Ensuring the necessary collaboration and case conferencing with Elders, school and

related agencies in the provision of services to clients in accordance with the Mental      Health Act; ensuring necessary collaboration with community resources and advocacy occurs with or on behalf of clients;

7)     Working with youth and community providing training in the area of mental health and addictions.  Plans, prepares and delivers public education and health promotion sessions within the community.

8)     To perform their duties in accordance to the directives of the Ahtahkakoop Personnel Management Act as ratified by Chief and Council.

9)     Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Health.

As a successful applicant, under the Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit Youth, the youth chosen for this position will be required to have good organizational skills and able to accurately count, transfer and monitor inventory of materials and equipment within the warehouse compound.  The individual will be required to have some maintenance and construction skills.  This position will require heavy lifting and a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle as the individual will be required to travel on-reserve.

Qualifications

  • The youth is Aboriginal;

  • His/her primary residence is on a First Nation reserve or in an Inuit community;

  • He/she is between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive). (Youth under the age of 17 will only be considered if they have completed high school or are not legally required to be in school;

Medical Office Assistant & Children's Oral Health Initiative Aide

Position:         Medical Office Assistant and Children Oral Health Initiative Aide
Type: 
            1 Year TERM position – Six( 6) month probationary period.

MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT AND COHI AIDE JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI) Aide is responsible for administration and reporting duties, program management, and taking an active role in promoting COHI to help the children establish and maintain healthy teeth and gums.

Prior to performing COHI services, the COHI Aide will be required to successfully complete COHI training.  Re-certification of COHI training will be completed annually.

Medical office Assistant (MOA) is required to help the physician and other medical practitioners in carrying out various tasks such as preparing and maintaining the patient’s files, answering to the patient’s queries on the phone, giving appointments to the patients, etc. These professionals are also required to deal with different staff members from other departments to get various tasks done. MOA training available.

The duties of the COHI Aide are as follows:

  • Act as a link between the dental professional and the community.

  • Collect appropriately completed authorization forms for COHI services.

  • Collect verbal or written medical history updates for children enrolled in COHI.

  • Make home visits in the community.

  • Complete, update, and maintain forms/records for COHI in an appropriate and confidential manner.

  • Apply fluoride varnish to the children in the community.

  • Train the parents and caregivers in basic oral hygiene methods for themselves and children in their care.

  • Schedule and deliver COHI services in a timely manner.

  • Arrange clinics for children aged 0 to 7 for the COHI Dental Therapist as required.

  • Assist in arranging presentations to individuals and groups such as daycare operators, pregnant women, parents/caregivers, Headstart children, and others as required.

The duties of the MOA are as follows:

  • Required to book patient’s appointments with the doctor or nurse Practitioner.

  • Needs to follow the instructions given by the doctors and carry out various tasks accordingly.

  • Register the patients when they arrive and direct them appropriately.

  • Required to complete the initial formalities and paper work with patient.

  • Required to maintain a record of the patients who attend clinic.

  • Needs to prepare and maintain the patient’s files.

  • Required to help the patients in filling the insurance forms.

  • Required to arrange for laboratory services for the patients.

  • The skills and specifications that are required to become a Medical Office Assistant are as follows:

  • Medical Office Assistant must have good communication skills.

Transportation Clerk - Full Time

The Ahtahkakoop Health Centre is currently seeking a FULL TIME position for Transportation Clerk.

Full time based on funding - 6 month probation period.

Works under the Supervision of the Medical Transportation Coordinator.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

  • Assist the Medical Transportation Coordinator to direct and coordinate medical transportation services for clients and patients that require transport to a medical facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.     Answers all incoming calls in a prompt, courteous and professional manner.

2.     To provide required taxi and medical transportation services to the nearest destination for medical appointments (i.e. dental, optometry, GP, ultrasound, etc) for on reserve First Nation residents, regardless of their Band affiliation.

3.     To confirm and notify Band members of their scheduled doctor/specialist appointment.

4.     When requested provide transportation and/or meals and accommodations when requested and approved by NIHB.

5.     To screen private mileage requests and to ensure each are in compliance to current MSB policy and rates.

6.     To ensure that taxis (three) have their trips arranged and confirmed daily.

7.     Deal with the membership and staff in a cordial manner and respect the confidentiality of information and records in the office.

8.     From time to time, the Transportation Clerk may be required to cover Medical Taxi Driver duties.

Medical Taxi Driver

Permanent Full Time Position - 6 month probation period.

Supervision under Linda Masuskapoe – Transportation Coordinator.

 Purpose of Position

To ensure the safe transportation of clients to various medical facilities, Doctor and Specialists for appointments/treatment or other reasons relating to the personal health and well being of the client.

Qualifications

·       valid Class 5 Driver license

·       clean Drivers abstract with no pending or current insurance restrictions

·       current CPIC

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Able to work long and often irregular hours.

  2. Arrange regular repairs, general maintenance and cleaning of the vehicles.

  3. Conduct a daily vehicle inspection and complete the daily inspection log.

  4. Maintain and submit weekly accurate, up to date records detailing fuel purchases, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports and other records that may be requested by the Medical Transportation Coordinator.

  5. Pick up clients at designated locations and transport them to their desired medical facility for appointment/treatment/follow-up.

  6. Maintain secure handling of all documents and records.

  7. Complete trip records.

  8. To demonstrate punctuality, and display a manner that is courteous, friendly and helpful at all times.

  9. To conduct his/herself in a manner that displays respect, responsibility and alertness at all times.

  10. To ensure they do not consume alcohol or drugs(prescription or illegal), during a twenty-four hour period before operating a Taxi. The abilities and good judgment of the Driver must never be impaired or compromised by any consumption.

 The ability to speak the Cree language is an asset.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:        The Community Health Representative will ensure the CHR program improves the health and well-being of Ahtahkakoop community members through a holistic approach. The Community Health Representative will promote healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. The Community Health Representative assesses, plans, provides and evaluates preventative, curative and rehabilitative care for community members in a wide variety of settings including the community and home-based services.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Community Restorative Justice Worker

The Ahtahkakoop Justice Department is now accepting applications for a full time, Community Restorative Justice Worker Term Position to April 30, 2020

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Ahtahkakoop Justice Coordinator, the successful applicant’s responsibilities will be to:

·       Assist Ahtahkakoop Band youth/adult members in Family/Criminal court and develop a case plan for each individual in court and have the ability to conduct personal counselling and make appropriate referrals for each individual/family.

·       Plan, coordinate and conduct community information sessions related to healing initiatives; and able to develop programs related to Domestic Violence and Drug addictions.

·       Work alongside the Holistic worker and addiction workers at the Ahtahkakoop Clinic and staff of the Ahtahkakoop Child and Family Services (ACFS).

·       Assist with the Ahtahkakoop Alternative Measures Program – i.e.: referrals from the RCMP, Judge or Prosecutor.

·       Organizes & provides or facilitates mediation meetings; healing circles, sentencing circles, family and community conferences, community services work, etc.

·       Develops & maintains a positive working relationship with the justice system and with various community-based service providers.

·       Meet with local religious and spiritual leaders to make referrals for healing purposes for individual or family setting;

·       As a Ahtahkakoop Justice employee, you may be required to work non-traditional hours to provide clientele service in the office and in community settings (i.e. court, home visits, conduct healing circle, traditional sweats,etc). This position involves travel and a valid driver’s license is required.

·       Act as a Justice worker in the Ahtahkakoop school setting and to assist with conflict of (i.e bullying, assaults) in the school and to assist the families in Family Group Conferencing or Healing Circles.

·       Assist with the Ahtahkakoop Community-School Liaison worker when needing your assists.

·       Involvement in Restorative Justice Activities and the promotion of restorative justice principles and practices in the Ahtahkakoop community and its members.

·       Also develop documents & records all work activities and submit reports as required.

Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess a Diploma or Degree from an accredited justice-related program or an equivalent combination of education and experience, Counselling certificate; must possess a Sask. Driver’s license, transportation and willingness to travel. Knowledge of; and sensitivity towards Aboriginal cultures and traditions. You will be required to provide verification of your degree. Must complete a criminal record check and complete vulnerable sector check with the RCMP before being interviewed.

Holistic Wellness Manager

PURPOSE OF POSITION:   

Under the direction of the Health Manager, the Holistic Wellness Manager is responsible for the management of mental health and addictions services within Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation to ensure the current developmental, treatment, and psycho-social needs of children, youth, adults and families are met.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. monitoring and evaluating Mental Health and Addictions Program objectives and activities and ensuring that services provided incorporate a culturally based focus; maintaining the consistency of standards to ensure services and related programs express the policies and procedures of Ahtahkakoop Health and are within the legal framework of the Mental Health Act

  2. consulting with Leadership, community members and staff to develop and recommend Mental Health and Addictions strategies and course of action; advising management on the resolution of Mental Health and Addictions issues and leading the development, selection, implementation and management of strategies

  3. Provide counselling, support/guidance, intervention, crisis management, family counselling as required, group work and case management. Conducts mental health assessments, help clients define goals and develop treatment plans.  Assessment of risk factors, clinical management of risk, stabilization, development of safety plans. Develop therapeutic processes to guide clients in the development of skills and strategies for dealing with their problems. Focus sessions on recovery, modification of behaviours or better management of conditions. Evaluate client progress on a regular basis and adjust interventions as necessary.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • For purposes of determining an employees’ salary classification to the proposed Ahtahkakoop salary grid, the individual designated as MH-3 must possess an undergraduate degree from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in Social Work or Psychology complimented by at least four (4) years experience in Health Care at the First Nations level.

Construction & Renovation Inventory Clerk Intern - Housing

Type:               Temporary full-time for duration of 19 weeks.

Salary:             $13.00/Hour 35 Hour/Week

Purpose of position

As a successful applicant, under the Housing Internship Initiative for First Nations and Inuit Youth, the youth chosen for this position will be required to have good organizational skills and able to accurately count, transfer and monitor inventory of materials and equipment within the warehouse compound.  The individual will be required to have some maintenance and construction skills.  This position will require heavy lifting and a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle as the individual will be required to travel on-reserve.

Qualifications

  • The youth is Aboriginal;

  • His/her primary residence is on a First Nation reserve or in an Inuit community;

  • He/she is between the ages of 15 and 30 (inclusive).  (Youth under he age of 17 will only be considered if they have completed high school or are not legally required to be in school;

  • He/she is out of school and have not been employed for at least six months, and

  • He/she is not in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits or agree to discontinue the benefits before the start of the internship.

  • He/she must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license.

  • He/she must possess a reliable vehicle.

POSITION TITLE:                 Community Safety Officer 

TYPE:                                     Temporary full-time – until March 31, 2019 

SALARY:                               $15.00/hour  

REPORTS TO:                       Justice Coordinator

PURPOSE OF POSITION: To ensure the premises and property of Ahtahkakoop are monitored to discourage acts of vandalism, theft or any acts of an unwanted or unlawful nature.

To ensure the residents of Ahtahkakoop are afforded a safe and secure community.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have a valid class 5 drivers license. The ability to speak/understand the Cree language is an asset. The Community Safety Officer will be required to pass a Criminal Record Check.

Finance Clerk

Ahtahkakoop First Nation is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist in the departments of Payroll/H.R. with payroll, personnel, attendance reconciliations, benefits and over-all payroll and human resource duties as required, assist the finance staff and accounting staff with the data entry of the general ledger entries, post receipts, disbursements, reviews coding, reconciles bank statements, data entry and day to day finances. This employee will function under the supervision of the Director of Finance.

Position:         FINANCE CLERK
Type:               Full-Time Employment – Six (6) month probationary period
Salary:            Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  1. A diploma specializing in Accounting, Administration or Commerce would be an asset.

  2. A minimum of 2 years experience in Accounting/Bookkeeping and use of ACCPAC, and Payroll Software and Excel software would be an asset.

  3. Alternatively, a certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution specializing in accounting, administration or commerce complimented by a combination of training and/or experience in accountancy or bookkeeping.

  4. Knowledge of principles and procedures of accounting and public finance.
