Tansi (Welcome)!

The Cree Nations Treatment Haven is situated along side the natural beauty of Sandy Lake. It was brought into existence in 1980's through the caring efforts and hard work of dedicated NNADAP workers and the four Chiefs of the Ahtahkakoop, Big River, Pelican Lake, and Witchekan Lake First Nations. The nations realized an urgent need to combat the damaging causes and effects of alcohol and drugs on their peoples and communities.

In operation since September, 1987, the Cree Nations Treatment Haven has treated approximately 4500 clients. The Haven can accommodate up to 22 in-patients at one time. Originally intended to be an Indian Arts and Crafts Production Centre, the $1.5 million log facility was started in 1983.

The Cree Nations Treatment Haven is accredited through Accreditation Canada and is staffed by qualified and trained alcohol and drug abuse counsellors.

The board of directors and staff believe that people are to be respected as unique individuals. Cree Nations Treatment Haven invites individuals on a personal journey to rediscover life, free from alcohol, drugs, and other addictive, compulsive behaviours. Guests are invited into a caring, nurturing environment where they can begin to take responsibility for themselves in a community atmosphere, where trust, confidence, self-esteem and respect are the primary focus.
