JORDAN’S PRINCIPLE

The Jordan’s Principle is responsible for helping families access available funding through Health Canada, to address the unmet health needs of children up to the age of 18. They work in an outreach environment such as in homes, schools, and/or community agencies.
WHAT IS JORDAN'S PRINCIPLE?
Jordan’s Principle is named in memory of Jordan River Anderson. He was a young boy from Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba.

In 2007 the House of Commons passed Jordan’s Principle in memory of Jordan River Anderson who passed away at the age of five after the Federal and Provincial Governments could not agree on who should pay for his care.

Jordan’s Principle makes sure all First Nation children living in Canada can access  the products, services and supports they need, when they need them. Funding can help with a wide range of health, social and educational needs. Including the unique needs that First Nations, 2-Spirit , 2SLGBTQI+, Children, youth and those with disabilities may have.
